ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE

1.    Active Voice

In active sentences, the thing doing the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing receiving the action is the object. Most sentences are active.

[Thing doing action] + [verb] + [thing receiving action]

xample :

·         Jhon wash the dishes.

·         The professor teaches students.

2.    Passive Voice

In passive sentences, the thing receiving the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing doing the action is optionally included near the end of the sentence. You can use the passive form if you think that the thing receiving the action is more important or should be emphasized. You can also use the passive form if you do not know who is doing the action or if you do not want to mention who is doing the action.

[Thing receiving action] + [be] + [past participle of verb] + [by] + [thing doing action]

Example :

·         The dishes are washed by jhon.

·         The students are taught by the professor.

Here are some examples tense is used in passive voice:

Simple Present Tense Auxiliary verb in passive voice : is/am/are
Active : He cleans the house He does not clean the house Does he clean the house?	Passive : The house is cleaned by him. The house is not cleaned by him. Is the house cleaned by him?
Simple Past Tense Auxiliary verb in passive voice: Was/were
Active : He repaired the car He did not repair the car Did he repair the car ?	Passive : The car was repaired by him. The car was not repaired by him. Was  the car repaired by him?
Simple Future Tense Auxiliary verb in passive voice :Will Be
Active : She will buy a car. She will not buy a car . Will she buy a car?	Passive : A car will be bought by her. A car will not be bought by her. Will a car be bougth by her?

So can be taken in the conclusion that , In “ active voice” subject acts upon object , while in “passive voice” object is actes upon by subject. It can also be said , in “ active voice” subject does a work on object, while in “ passive voice “ object is worked on by subject. The normal structure of an active voice sentence is subject + verb + object but in passive the normal structure of sentence is reversed according to certain rules and becomes like object+verb + subject. The real meaning of a sentence does not change if the sentence is experessed either by active voice or by passive voice. The active voice more often used in daily life compared with the passive voice .However , we often find the passive voice in the newspapers , the articles in magazines and scientific writings . The passive voice used because of the object of the active voice is important information from the subject
